Leonard Jones and James E. White v. Mary J. Blige
Leonard Jones and James E. White came out with a song called “Party Ain’t Crunk”. Shortly after, Mary J. Blige came out with a song called “Family Affair.” Apparently they were both rap songs and they both had the same type of rhythm. Plaintiffs-Appellants Leonard Jones and James E. White sued Mary J. Blige, Asiah Lewis and Luchana M. Lodge, lyricists, and Universal-MCA Music Publishing, Inc. and Universal Music Group, Inc. for copyright infringement in the end. http://cip.law.ucla.edu/cases/2000-2009/Pages/jonesblige.aspx.
